Description

This is a MEC 650 hydraulically operated progressive reloader for 12 gauge shells. As a hobby, I rebuild metallic and shotgun reloading equipment. It gets me out of the wife’s hair, give’s me my garage time and an excuse for a cigar and even a bourbon now and then. I find working with my hands to be great therapy and I enjoy bringing these machines back to excellent working condition and passing them on at a reasonable price. I have completely disassembled, inspected, cleaned and lubricated this machine. I repainted the base and tool head, I polish the bottle holder and all chromed parts, I remove and stabilize any rust, I replace all worn or badly rusted parts and I reassemble and adjust the machine to factory specifications. This press includes the two powder and shot bottles as pictured, they are new and therefore the modern version that fills through the top. It also includes a charge bar for 1 1/8 oz. lead shot and accepts changeable powder bushings. Includes # 29, 30 and 32 powder bushings, two bottle caps, two rubber grommets, one brass washer for very fine powders, crimp starters for six and eight petal crimps, a complete set of operator literature and four mounting bolts. It also includes a brand new hydraulic hose as pictured. Essentially, you are getting a like new press at lower than new prices. I know that there are quite a few MEC reloaders advertised here on E-Bay, if you also have a need to work with your hands by all means go ahead and buy one of these, who am I to rain on your parade? On the other hand, if you would rather be reloading or shooting than getting dirty and greasy, or spending time trying to find detent balls that are smaller than BBs, or ordering parts or chasing small screws and set screws and playing with adjustments, buy this machine. I have no doubt that it will work like new and will reload thousands of rounds for years to come. The 650 series is no longer made by MEC but parts are readily available since they are the same as parts on other current models. The 650 is essentially a Mec Grabber without the resizing stations, it does not resize the brass on the shotgun shell and I suspect that this is why MEC discontinued the line. Resizing the brass on your shells is not necessary if you shoot the shells in the same gun and can actually reduce the number of times you can reload the shell due to metal fatigue. The resizing station is also the most complicated station on a manually advanced progressive press and the one most prone to not function properly, Eliminating the sizing station can improve the functioning of this type of press and the headache of removing all the shells from all the press if the sizing station hangs up. If you really feel that you need to resize the brass on your shells, you can do this separately with a MEC supersizer, thereby uncomplicating the workings of this progressive reloader by one step. Please note that this press is hydraulically operated, you will need a hydraulic pump to operate it as is. I have a hydraulic pump offered in a separate eBay listing. MEC 650s use to sell in the neighborhood of $450+ new, you can reload a lot of shells with the savings you’ll get on this machine. Sorry, I only ship to the continental United States.
